Searching for dialogue
By Susan Gourley
Exhibition 2 – 18 August 2017
Opening night Friday 4th August, 6 – 9 pm
Searching for dialogue is an ecological, and interpretative response of belonging to a colonising culture. It is this cultural history that has led to destruction and continuing degradation of land, as well as the endangerment, and extinction of various flora and fauna species amounting to ecocide.
Susan Gourley is studying for a Doctor of Visual Arts at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University in Brisbane. Her research emerges from an awareness of the current ecological crisis caused by increasing degradation to the earth’s biosphere through the exploitation of land and natural resources. Coupled with this is Susan’s growing interest in the relationship between environmental degradation and colonial ideologies and practices.
