WHITE LIGHT 8’3”

video projection

CONCEPT

The formal re-conveyance of white light into the Milky Way Galaxy integrates reverence for the constancy, yet abiding intransience, of sunlight. In essence - beyond any political or astronomical narrative, indeed without an iota of our influence or control - light is at the very centre of our existence on Earth.

FORMAT

Corresponding to the eight minutes and three seconds it takes for sunlight to reach the Earth, WHITE LIGHT 8’3” features a seamless repetition of images of the sun, specifically its light, in digital format.

OBJECTIVE

“Holy are you, transmuting the perfect into the real.”[1].

A single sentence by 12th century saint, Hildegard von Bingen, is the invisible subtext of a film that reveals its opposite is also true: a highly edited version of visible reality can change into personal, momentary states of perfection.
