Central Australian artists are invited to apply to a program spanning 2024-5, presented in partnership between Watch This Space, Situate (TAS) to support a local regional artist to develop and tour a new work.

The program will see one successful artist take part in SITUATE 24-25 as part of a small cohort of artists selected by regional arts organisations across Australia. There will be funded travel to Tasmania in 2024 to participate in Situate arts labs, access to mentorship of the artist’s choosing here in Mparntwe-Alice Springs.

The artist will also be supported to present an iteration of the work at Watch This Space 2025. Projects that span multiple mediums and can be adapted to different presentation modes are encouraged: works that may sit across the gallery, the stage, the screen, the dormant lot, or whatever spaces feel like home.

Artists at all stages of their career who call Central Australia home and can commit to the two-year time frame are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will join artists from other regional arts organisations. Together, the artists will be supported to create innovative and experimental new works. Through the labs, artists will be challenged to embrace new ideas, generate bold concepts, think about larger-scale projects, and approach their practice in novel ways.

Applications are now open, via the Situate 24-25 callout. Applications will be assessed by the Watch This Space Curatorial Committee and Situate.
