Bark & Bristle
Hannah Raisin & Will Heathcote
Hannah Raisin and Will Heathcote’s exhibition Bark and Bristle playfully ponders the complex and diverse relationships between people and their surroundings.
The work aims to physically explore the territory between controlled and uncontrolled environments, identifying a wealth of material in typical projections of the Australian outback. Operating both collaboratively and individually the artists will showcase a body of new work developed during recent months spent working in the broader Alice Springs region.
Bark and Bristle is the culmination of Raisin and Heathcote’s current creative development program of immersing themselves in various regional locations throughout Australia. Working from a mobile studio the artists are journeying deep into the crevices of the land to engaging in ideas of habitat, interconnectivity and conceptions of wilderness both real and imagined.
For the duration of their exhibition, Hannah and Will are undertaking a Travelling Artist Residency at Watch This Space. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
