Hosted by artist in residence Victoria Alondra as part of her Northern Territory Writers Centre x WTS residency this month.
Victoria Alondra is a multidisciplinary mother and artist whose work explores the intersections of joy and resistance, identity, displacement, violence and the cosmos. Born in Anáhuac (México), she draws strength and inspiration from her family roots as she turns her focus towards the possibility of new worlds.
Victoria will be screening one of her DIY short films, followed by the feature 'The Coconut Revolution' (2001), Directed by Dom Rotheroe.
"Coconut Revolution tells the story of the successful uprising of the indigenous peoples of Bougainville Island against the Papua New Guinea army and the mining plans of the mining corporation Rio Tinto Zinc (RTZ) to exploit their natural resources."

BYO (no booze)
The Walk-In is an under-resourced cinema and we rely on a BYO hospitality attitude. We will provide warm food, deck chairs and film, and request that you bring your own swag, thermos, soup vessel, blanket and anything else you might need to keep yourself comfortable.
Please note this is a dry event, there will be no alcohol served or permitted. It is family friendly, dog friendly, it is friendly to all.

Nahua food will be served.
BYO bowl/cutlery for a serving of dinner (free).
