Lauren Ravi

Coming from a background in materials conservation, Lauren Ravi’s practice often involves the application of irrational means in order to better understand the complex and problematic relationship of humans to the natural versus virtual world. This is often executed through the simulation of ancient (often Roman) methods of construction, such as carved stone illustrations, and the creation of bricks. In doing this the artist seeks to create objects that hold traces of these processes in time, and highlight the social life of the material world in relation to human gesture.
