Blue, Green, Yellow, Violet
Anna White
A dynamic series of oil paintings on perspex investigating colour, light, abstraction, landscape and the space of the picture. An investigation into how movement and place can be portrayed in paint.
These works reference the landscape of central Australia via colour palette and contemporary central desert Aboriginal art as inspiration.
These works explore the materiality of paint, invoking a theatrical play with intuitive gesture, rapid drama and subtle transitional states, using scrapers and other tools to compose the painting.
White experiments with shaped Perspex, not only square or rectangular, but also organic shapes.
