Amongst our gallery and six studio spaces, Watch This Space reserves one studio for artists living interstate, overseas or outside the NT’s Central Desert region.
THE TAiR PROGRAM OFFERS:
- Free studio hire for 4, 6 or 8 weeks (fully subsidised)
- $750 artist fee
- 3.8 x 3.5m studio with desk and chair, including air-conditioning split-system
- Creative, practical and professional support from our Director & Creative Producer (Exhibitions & Projects)
- The opportunity to work in a creative environment amongst five other studio artists as well as local and visiting exhibiting artists
- Use of WTS tools and equipment (with prior arrangement)
- Access to communal kitchen with fridge, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities
- Central location: only a 15 minute walk from the town centre, shops and supermarket
- Opportunity to contribute to WTS Creative Program with an open studio, screening or exhibition (external to WTS Gallery)
Commitment: Demonstrated incubation of the proposal and commitment to its realisation.
Relevancy: Thoughtful consideration of context – why Watch This Space? Why Mparntwe/Alice Springs, the Central Desert region, or the Northern Territory?
Amplification: Is the applicants’ voice, perspective and/or practice critical for us to amplify?
Development: Evidence of strong evolving and experimental practice.
SUCCESSFUL ARTISTS ARE REQUIRED TO:
- Cover travel and accommodation costs.
- Pay a $150 bond (refundable on return of studio to its original state)
- Become a member of WTS ($52 for a whole year)
