Trade-off
Dani Reynolds
EXHIBITION
What a magic park! Blue air. All I want to do is go home. I count the holograms with new tallies. The joint of the branch one way, your torso against the hill. Without knowing the colour of the light or portal, you reach out to touch the socket. It takes a while to come around – mixing the right salt, seeing, forming, waiting. I blow the dust, tinker, break, crack, fill, pull, hold. I work myself in to where you are standing.

Trade-off is composed of a suite of sculptures formed with a donated and left behind collection of trophies from a childhood tennis champion. This is an intimate collaboration that centers around resistance and reclamation. Trade-off is a tender and playful exploration embracing deconstruction, modification and remixing signifiers as an act of personal liberation.
BIO
Dani Reynolds is a multidisciplinary artist who creates works that comprise interchangeable components of large-scale painting, sculpture, moving image, sound and performance. Reynolds' work is generated from a studio practice that engages with notions of ’not knowing’ and failure as desirable states to work from and with. Resulting work commonly employs recurrent themes of humour, gesture, repetition and futility.
